چکیده

Aegiphila brachiata is a forest native Brazilian species, known as peloteiro, with high capacity for biomass production and resistance to disturbances, having potential use in degraded ecosystems. Seeing the scarcity of studies on we aimed determine morphobiometric characteristics fruits, seeds seedlings; evaluate its germination potential. We determined physical fruits seeds, morphological description stages seedling development. Germination was completely randomized design (factorial scheme), three temperatures (20, 25, 30°C) two methods overcoming dormancy (partial total endocarp removal). Fruits are indehiscent, fleshy, persistent calyx. The pyrene constituted by seeds. hypogeal, cryptocotyledonary. Results show that removing unprecedented methodology used suitable method overcome mechanical (with 25 30°C), showing applicability several species.

Seed provenance matters — Effects on germination of four plant species used for ecological restoration

The use of local seed provenances is often recommended in restoration and habitat creation because they are thought to be better adapted to local habitat conditions. However, spatial scales and the degree of population differentiation are not well known and germination is often not included in comparisons between provenances. We analysed germination as a key trait of plant development in five p...

Skin microbiota in frogs from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest: Species, forest type, and potential against pathogens

The cutaneous microbiota of amphibians can be defined as a biological component of protection, since it can be composed of bacteria that produce antimicrobial compounds. Several factors influence skin microbial structure and it is possible that environmental variations are among one of these factors, perhaps through physical-chemical variations in the skin. This community, therefore, is likely ...

Vegetation-Environmental Relationships and Ecological Species Groups of the Ilam Oak Forest Landscape, Iran

The study was carried out in the Ilam Oak forest that is located in the west part of Iran. The objective of this research was to determine the plant ecological groups and site classification in this region. Data were collected from 117 sample plots using the systematic-random sampling method. The size of sampling plots was 20 m?20 m for the tree and shrub species and 1.5 m ?1.5 m for herbaceous...
